Tips + Tricks For Setting A Holiday Table

Holiday decor does not need to be only red and green. Instead, take a page from Nate’s book this season and see just how festive a neutral color scheme can really be. Nate recently set a table for 1stdibs’ Introspective magazine, incorporating unexpected vintage pieces with a lot of texture, for a play on what feels “sort of luxe, but also dusty and collected.” The end result is both elegant and unfussy. And, part of the fun — sourcing unusual finds for your holiday tablescape.

Unexpected moments, like the carved wood bull’s head napkin rings and the Gucci stag cup filled with white roses, add whimsy to the table. While full place settings of flatware add just the right amount of formality, along with place cards, porcelain dinnerware, and matching water glasses and wine coupes.

Another of Nate’s go-to tricks: prep your table decor days in advance, so when the day comes, all you have to do is light the candles — and start filling your plate. If you’re lucky enough to have a husband who does the cooking – like Nate does – that is. Shop Nate’s 1stdibs store here.
