Get The Look: Squishy Sofas In The New York Times

hidden

Nate recently spoke with the New York Times about “the furniture equivalent of sweatpants” – fitting, after this year of WFH – low, squishy, and most importantly, comfortable seating. Vintage icons of this category include Cassina’s Soriana collection (pictured at left in Nate’s former NYC home), Gubi’s Pacha lounge chair, and Mario Bellini’s Camaleonda sofa for B&B Italia. While lamenting his age as the same as these original pieces, Nate lauds their fun, cool vibe, which is attracting younger clientele. All three of the above-mentioned models have been resurrected into new productions for today’s home. If you’re looking for the same comfort and coolness at a budget-friendly price, see below. Story by Tim McKeough for The New York Times.

Nate + Jeremiah’s Marcel sectional at Living Spaces features deep, cushy seating in plush velvet. If looking for vintage pieces, shop sites like 1stDibs, Chairish or eBay – where you might find a cool sofa like this Italian Arflex 2-set in burnished golden corduroy. Or, if you’re looking for a lounge-worthy piece to fit a smaller space and also your budget, this sweet settee from CB2 might do the trick.
